What is a Level Sensor?
A level sensor is a device used to detect the presence of material at a given level. There are level sensors designed for different purposes, such as for dry or wet materials. In the sector of dry materials like wood chips, pellets, grains, or granular substances, various types of level sensors are used. These include membrane sensors, capacitive sensors, radar, ultrasound, and more.
Operating Principle of Our Level Sensors
The level sensors manufactured by us at Level Switch Sweden are of the membrane type. They operate by having a membrane affected by the material's level. When the material reaches a certain level, the membrane activates a microswitch that sends a signal. This signal can be used to control fill levels or trigger alarms in the event of overfilling.
Applications
Level sensors are used in a variety of situations to monitor the levels of dry goods:
- Silos and containers: To monitor fill levels and prevent overfilling.
- Conveyance systems: As overflow protection in conveyor belts and screw conveyors.
- Cleaning machines and dryers: To ensure the correct fill level and optimize operation.
